Hello friends and family! Thanks for scanning the QR code!
The link for the discounted hotel block is below. The block expires September 8th. You'll also see tentative details regarding Friday night's welcome party and Saturday's event below.
Please note: this is an adults only event.
We would like you to know we do not expect gifts. Making the trip and spending the weekend with us is gift enough. If you still feel compelled, contributions to the honeymoon fund are appreciated.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in October!

Run a marathon.
Edgewater is located about 20 minutes north of Downtown, near the edge of the lake. It is cooler near the lake.
Below is a brief list of recommendations on places to stay on the north side. It is marathon weekend - a big deal! - so we do recommend reserving your accommodation early. The families will be staying in the neighborhood, which is a great option if you can find a rental or B&B, though unfortunately it doesn't have a lot of big hotels.
We will provide one shuttle to/from Hilton Garden Inn, plus Lyfts to get you back to wherever you're staying after the event.
| Hilton Garden Inn | The Hilton Garden Inn is conveniently located in the near northwest suburbs. It is about a 30 minute drive to the venue. We have a block of discounted rooms reserved there - use the link above to get the group discount. You must book by September 8th. |
|---|---|
| Hotels/Bed and Breakfasts | There are a large number of hotels in and around the city/neighborhood. Because of the marathon, the aren't large blocks of rooms available, and prices can vary wildly. We hope you can find something convenient. If you need assistance please don't hesitate to reach out to us. |
Here are some of our favorite restaurants in the area.
| Hopleaf | 62 taps and over 100 bottles of craft beers with a particular focus on traditional Belgian brewing and food. We recommend the mussels in wit beer with fries and the chocolate & espresso pot de creme for dessert. |
|---|---|
| Tanoshi | Our regular spot for omokase, but make sure you get the Toro Truffle roll. |
| Red Hot Ranch | Without a doubt, the best burger in the city. Cash Only |
| Anne Sather | A constant favorite for breakfast. Get an order of cinnamon rolls as one of your sides to receive the two largest and most delicious pastries you've ever had. |
| M henry | Another one of our breakfast favorites. A little bit more upscale spot for creative breakfast options. |
| Lickity Split | A spot for frozen custard and candy. Jake likes the Bing Crosberry and Miranda’s go to is the Crazy Cakes. |
Here are some things to do over the weekend if you find yourself with spare time.
| Chicago Architecture Boat Tours | When the weather is good, this is truly one of the most fun and interesting ways to see the city. We recommend it to everyone and have never received a complaint. |
|---|---|
| Art Institute of Chicago | The Impressionist collection is amazing and includes our favorite painting–Paris Street; Rainy Day by Gustave Caillebotte and Seurat's A Sunday on La Grande Jatte featured in Ferris Bueler's Day Off. |
| Music Box Theater | A 95 year old, three screen movie theater. The leading theater for independent and foreign films in the city. They also specialize in film and large format projection. There's nothing like watching a movie with 700 other people. |
| Broadway Antique Market | One of the largest permanent antique markets in the city. They have two floors of furniture, art, clothing, and knick-knacks. A constant joy to wander for an hour or two. |
